I have done a bit more digging and come up with these jewels of information along the info by-ways.
1. The radio spectrum that Inukshuk uses is not for Mobile use. Its what the link refers to as Nomadic. Meaning this isn't the pancea for mobile VoIP phones yet.
2. The WiMAX devices are using pre-final certification hardware. I have also not been able to find a single snippet of info to tell me that an upgrade is a firmware flash away. This might be a case of buy early , buy again later.
3. The pricing is insane: 50$ or 130$. Rogers has a much better price point when you factor in cost of the modem and plan details
If you thought the 10GB that Northwestel limits users to was bad then imagine less than half that each month. Although, if you compare the Lite package (2GB/month) vs the Unplugged (4GB/month) its a bit more apples to apples in terms of speed and caps and such.
I would be interested in seeing a demo of this kit at work but I don't know if others have any interest in using this. It's still all going over the same backbone to the South.
I will post more information as I can find it on the 'net.

Inukshuk News
I was pleasantly surprised to find out from an early adopter this weekend that Rogers rates (49.95/mo, 30g cap, 1.5mb) on the WiMAX initiative were far superior to Northwestel ADSL rates (59.95/mo, 10 g cap, 2.0mb).
There were some issues with setup and establishing a connection being one of the first users. He will update me regarding speed.
I will be switching over shortly. The cap recently introduced by NWTel is a serious drop in their service to customers. Yet we're paying the same rate since first introduced in 1999.
Its time for a change.
Where is your friend living?
I don't believe Rogers has a presence up here in the 'horse...? I could be wrong though...
I am definitely interested in getting more information on how the rollout progresses.
You are right on the Rogers plan though, it seriously kicks the NWTel plan (if you did get those D/L speeds...)
Whitehorse
Here is the link to Rogers HSI wireless coverage areas, including Whitehorse.
They don't have an office here, but modem arrived same week when ordered.
:Rogers Wireless Coverage:.
very interesting
please let me know how it goes; folks I know at NWTel don't think this should work...
