I am contemplating buying a new lens for the DSLR (a 450D) and I am sure I want to get a prime lens (for the wide open low light capabilities) but I have been unsure what kind of lens I should get.
iPhoto meta data to the rescue. I made some smart albums that broke down the photos I have taken over the past 2 years into buckets based on the focal length the picture was taken at. It looked like this:

A grand total of 1206 photos. Actual picture taken count is around 3400 right now, so I throw away about 2/3rds of my pictures [focus, boring, etc]. This break out makes sense in many ways - I usually take pictures of scenery (wide) or people (typically in tight).
I was torn between the many fast primes that are in the affordable category so this data helps me make a choice that I won't regret given my past photo taking preference - likely a 20 or 28mm or a 50mm prime! Maybe even the 85mm prime - just so I don't duplicate my coverage. Data doesn't make choice easier, it just provides me a way to help predict what I may do next.
