Day 0 and Day 1 BCBR part 2

IPhone posted part 1 "for me"
The entrance to the trail was slick. Lots of wet roots and wet trail
caused a lot backed up riders. Welcome to BC everyone. This lasted for
a bit but eventually spaced out into the first big road climb. All
good to the top. I stopped at the well stocked aid station to see many
of the folks I had passed not stopping and going through quickly.
Lesson to me to be quicker in the aid station.
Entered the first gravity enduro section and saw a lot of walkers and
slipping around. I dropped the seat and ripped it when I could. The
sheer amount of riders meant that passing was not easy or I had to be
more aggressive than normal to enjoy the descent but it was all good.
Think carcross and you will have an idea of this descent. Lots of rock
rollers and drops with good runout. Thankfully it was dry today as the
wet of past few days was still around.
Some fun low lying flat turns into the second hill climb and aid
station #2. Loaded up on gels and water and rode off quickly. Second
descent was a lot more wet and rooted. I was starting to get tired and
focus was starting to lapse a bit. I ate a lot of gels in the first
half of the race but was less good in the 2nd half of the race. I
drank about 4L of fluids during the race and was happy with that.
All in all Cumberland has been good to us.
See you from Campbell River!
