Evan's blog

Yesterday, or the day before, I received an email from a friendly fellow asking: How can I start a WiMAX ISP
Now, assuming this isn't clever Turing level Spam that I am responding to, I figured I would slam together a business plan for this person in 300 words or less as Venture Capitalists are busy people with money to spend.

I just received an email from my hosting company Dreamhost that informed me that my disk space had been quadrupled and my bandwidth octupled!!

I now have 20GB of space and a mind meltingly huge 1TB of data transfer in a month. I have no idea how I am going to fill this amount of space as my upload is limited to about 17KB/s from home.

If this is not a wakeup call to all companies that offer hosting that disk space and bandwidth are commodity items that should be doled like candy in a parade (aside: remember when the fire truck would come by and the lollipops would come flying in droves with the sirens blaring; ahhh, good times).

File this one under "Do They Even Get Security".

I was cleaning out my bookmarks just now and decided to see if Shaw had finally closed down my old email account as I did close/transfer my account to a friend when I moved to the 'Horse.

They haven't, but the even more fascinating thing is the total lack of security in their webmail login.
